Shure e1c e2c Etys ER4

Recommended Posts

Sorry for the major OT (by me, N@Z and Blues) on CD3k porn thread, but since its ablaze's thread I guess he won't mind.

So far, blue's comclusion is this

"e1c represents the best earcanal you can buy for 235.. while the etys represents the best you can buy for 500

er4 does sound more neutral and balanced to my ears .. but that's as far as what I could recall.. "

At this point, N@Z I would like to say that e2c is freaking heavy at 30g on the ears, as opposed to e1c's 17g weight.

Thanks for opening this thread. I shoulda checked before I posted in the other thread & I'd like to apololgise to everyone for the needless OT (esp. Ablaze).

I hope Barradio or Blues can elaborate further on their own impressions. As I am very interested. Lately I have been looking into Pro closed headphones alot.

Blues, how come I can remeber you cannot. It IS E1c!!!

E2 is at $190

Adhoc commented on head-fi that e2 is more detailed than e2. Head-fiers say e2 is more bassy.

e2c looks so cool, with its transparent look

while e1c looks like a hearing aid with its 'flesh' colour

something to consider since most likely one would be wearing them outside

i visited the shure website and i think the major difference in sound is due to e1c having 2 drivers, as opposed to e2c having 1 driver

seriously thinking of matching e2c with NJB3...

gosh there are a LOT of misconceptions here in this thread:

both the e1 and e2 have only ONE driver per earpiece - ONLY the e5 has 2 drivers per earpiece.

it is a common conception that the e2 is less detailed than the e1. however, many many many many people i have spoken to on head-fi who own the e2 assure me it improves considerably in the highs with the addition of a supermini portable amp (note not a meta).

the bass is excellent. it can actually thump out trance tracks. not bad for a earphone.

so far all i can say without a shadow of doubt that the e2 is the best thing i've ever gotten for portable listening. the isolation, sound and pricing are IMO a unbeatable deal. yes the sound is not as good as a ksc35's, but overall for portable use, it is far far far more practical. and better looking.

you will not notice the weight unless you keep thinking about it. the cable is thicker than sony ones and feels expensive. i noticed no microphonics yet.

and yes, they look much much much much better IMO than e1s.

Well who gives a damn how people look at your buds?

alot of people do. it is not only foolish but dangerous to assume that your unique (and not neccessarily 'correct') opinion overrides everyone else's.
